Universal Works

Universal Works

Founded in 2009 by David Keyte at his kitchen table, Universal Works was born from a desire to make honest, well-fitting clothing rooted in heritage but designed for today. Inspired by David’s working-class upbringing in 1970s Midlands, his time as a sign-writer’s apprentice, and a 30-year fashion career with brands like Paul Smith and Maharishi, the brand blends tradition with modern utility. Universal Works champions small-scale, ethical production in trusted UK and international factories, and thrives on creative collaborations. From ten initial stockists to stores in London, Nottingham, Berlin, and beyond, the company remains proudly independent — driven by passion, craft, and a good sense of humour.
